For 21 sc galaxies whose properties encompass a wide range of radii, masses, and luminosities, we have obtained major axis spectra extending to the faint outer regions, and have deduced rotation curves. The galaxies are of high inclination, so uncertainties in the angle of inclination to the line of sight and in the position angle of the major axis are minimized.
The evolutionary significance of the observed luminosity function for main-sequence stars in the solar neighborhood is discussed. The hypothesis is made that stars move off the main sequence after burning about 10 per cent of their hydrogen mass and that stars have been created at a uniform rate in the solar neighborhood for the last five billion years.

The astrophysical journal supplement specializes in extensive papers presenting significant new research in astronomy and astrophysics. Apjs publishes catalogs and large compilations of data that can be used as reference by the astronomical community. The journal also supports special issues, collections of thematically related papers published.
It publishes six volumes per year with two 280-page issues per volume.
Astronomical and astrophysical transactions - journal of the eurasian astronomical society. Aims and scope astronomical and astrophysical transactions (aaptr) provides a forum for the rapid publication of material from all modern and classical fields of astronomy and astrophysics, as well as material concerned with astronomical instrumentation and related fundamental sciences.
The astrophysical journal, often abbreviated apj (pronounced ap jay) in references and speech, is a peer-reviewed scientific journal of astrophysics and astronomy, established in 1895 by american astronomers george ellery hale and james edward keeler. The journal discontinued its print edition and became an electronic-only journal in 2015.
The astrophysical journal is devoted to recent developments, discoveries, and theories in astronomy and astrophysics. Apj publications constitute significant new research that is directly relevant to astrophysical applications, whether based on observational results or on theoretical insights or modeling.

We present a new and independent determination of the local value of the hubble constant based on a calibration of the tip of the red giant branch (trgb) applied to type ia supernovae (sneia). The trgb method is both precise and accurate, and is parallel to, but independent of the cepheid distance scale.
